JYSK opens first stores in Türkiye

Continuing the expansion to new markets, JYSK will open its first two stores in Türkiye in the first week of May 2023.

Since founder Lars Larsen opened the very first JYSK store in Denmark in 1979, growth and expansion has been deeply rooted in the DNA of the company, which has grown to include more than 3,200 stores across 48 countries. Now, the Lars Larsen Group-owned retailer is expanding to a new market: Türkiye.

On Thursday 4 May 2023, the first JYSK stores in Türkiye will open in the Istanbul shopping malls Torium AVM and Oasis Cadde.

“We look forward to bringing our great Scandinavian offers to the people of Türkiye. We have long wanted to expand our business further outside of Europe, and we see great potential for JYSK in the Turkish market. We strongly believe that our Scandinavian assortment will appeal to customers in Türkiye and as always, we will adapt parts of our assortment to match the local market,” says Jan Bøgh, President and CEO of JYSK.

Türkiye will be the 49th country on the JYSK map. While 29 of them are operated directly by JYSK, the remaining run on a franchise-based model.

“We have a strong business model that works well both in our own countries and for our franchisees. One of our biggest strengths is our small store concept, which makes it possible for us to place our stores closer to customers and make their shopping experience as easy as possible,” says Jan Bøgh.

In addition to the physical stores, JYSK will also launch a webshop in Türkiye and the strong belief in the Turkish market is also reflected in an ambitious plan for further expansion:

“Our first two stores are only the beginning of our expansion plans, as we see many opportunities for more JYSK stores in Türkiye,” says Jan Bøgh.
